Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti had a lengthy interview in which he spoke about his favourite Italian players among many other things.
After being sacked by Real Madrid, Ancelotti has decided to take the year off and wait for new opportunities. When asked about the possibility of returning to the Spanish giants, Ancelotti didn’t rule anything out. He said,:
“Why not? I could return there in the same way I could go back to Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea.”
Later in the interview the former Milan boss was asked which players he would bring to his next club. Ancelotti said,:
“In Italy, I would like Insigne, Bernardeschi, Dybala or Baselli. That said, the best Italian player, Marco Verratti, currently plays abroad.”
When asked about the title race in Italy, the veteran tactician said,:
“Inter have convinced me because solidity and balance are two necessary ingredients in any title challenge. Mancini has done good to build his side the way he has. The league is unpredictable this year. My pick to win it all, and I have repeated this several times is Roma because their play in the final third impresses me greatly. I have liked Sarri’s tactics, however, while Fiorentina are a nice surprise.”
In regards to Milan’s struggles and Juventus’ rough start to the season in the league, Ancelotti said,:
“Milan are yet to find their identity. Their place in the standings hasn’t surprised me considering what they have shown so far on the field. They still have time to demonstrate their full potential. Juventus, on the other hand, are paying the price of losing key players. They have invested in younger players and need to be patient.”
Ancelotti finished the interview by talking about the potential of him becoming the next Italy boss. He said,:
“I like to manage, the idea of managing once every three months is not something I like. Until this thought leaves me, coaching Italy or any other national team is not something that I would be interested in. I’m supporting Conte and hope he wins the Euro.”
