Sabatini: “It Won’t Be Easy To Get Out of This Situation.”

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini expressed concern following his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta on Sunday.

Roma continued their poor run of form today with a disappointing defeat against Atalanta. The loss comes just five days after their humiliating 6-1 defeat against Barcelona and confirms a rough patch for the giallorossi. After the game Sabatini told reporters,:

“We spoke with the staff and the management. Everyone must assume responsibility starting from me. It won’t be easy for us to get out of this situation, our belief is dwindling. The only way to get out of times like these is with generosity and honesty.”

What did you tell Garcia?

“That it’s a difficult moment and that the team is currently suffering. In Barcelona, the right team played in order to win. Then of course, what happened happened and it was difficult to come back from that. We have to assume responsibility, know where it went wrong, and correct it.”

What do you tell the fans?

“I would tell them not to lose faith. I know that at this moment this request will be responded to sarcastically but it’s what we want. We know football. We know that we need to sacrifice and show responsibility. No one could be absolved from responsibility. Not the manager or the club. We have to understand this crisis. It’s our duty, even the players. They can’t be fully free of responsibility either. They are strong but to say that today would be difficult.”

What happened after the international break?

“It’s ridiculous to say that after the break we have a different mentality. The international break and the injuries are no excuse. We must assume full responsibility. We will act in a united fashion. Here, no one is alone and we will solve these problems together.”
