Lazio continue their poor run of form in league play with a draw at home against Palermo.
Manager Stefano Pioli chose to keep Antonio Candreva on the bench, adding fuel to the transfer fires that have sparked in the last few weeks.
The home side were off to another slow start, conceding a goal after just 21 minutes of play. Lazio were able to salvage a point as substitute Antonio Candreva was able to bury a penalty in the 69th minute.
In the post match press interview with Sport Mediaset, Pioli discussed his disappointment with the draw along with his decision to keep Candreva on the bench.
“The mood [in the locker room] is not the best. We wanted to stop the losing streak, but the goal was the win, the draw does not satisfy us. The players responded with character, but with little clarity, we got ourselves into trouble against a team that following their first opportunity took the lead.”
When he was asked if his decision for leaving Candreva on the bench was tied to the upcoming transfer window Pioli said:
“A manager cannot think about the January transfer market, especially in a situation this delicate. What I have witnessed in recent weeks led me to this decision, it was absolutely technical.”
