Roma winger Gervinho has finally made the move to China with Hebei Fortune and will sign a contract with them shortly.
Earlier today Roma released a statement about the Ivorian’s departure. It goes as follows,:
“The forward, who was born in 1987, has been sold to the Chinese club [Hebei Fortune] for 18 million euros plus a bonus of one million euros. The bonuses will be paid if the club and the player reach certain athletic objectives.”
In recent weeks, the former Arsenal man was said to be on his way out from the club but his move to Jiangsu Suning fell through. Hebei Fortune, on the other hand, would let nothing similar occur and reached an agreement with Luciano Spalletti’s side within days. Gervinho has been a crucial player over the last few seasons for them but the transfer fee of near 20 million euros is difficult to turn down. Moreover, Spalletti has been testing out the 3-4-1-2 formation which leaves the winger in an awkward position.
Gervinho has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season scoring seven goals and registering two assists.
