Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus soared to a 3-0 victory over Italian rival Inter, carrying a commanding lead heading into the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final round. The former Milan boss was thrilled with the way his men performed, but says they can improve.
Allegri should be thrilled with the way the bianconeri are playing at the moment. Rapidly climbing the Serie A table and looking like serious contenders once again for the Scudetto, Juventus are also in pole position for the coveted league cup. After the win, Allegri spoke to RAI Sport:
“We had a good game, but we can do better. Even Inter, despite the result, played a good match. The boys are waking up but there is a lot left to be done. We are not yet into the Italian Cup final and in the league are still second in the standings.”
“The Scudetto? It’s a mini championship of 17 matches with Napoli.”
The Juventus manager also praised the performance of the struggling striker Alvaro Morata who until today, hadn’t scored since October:
“The double means a lot. In his last performance, he did well but missed the goal. Tonight, he was technical, physical and scored a beautiful goal. I’m happy for him.
With the club certainly in the race to win both the league and cup titles, there is still the Champions League that awaits them. Allegri on the monumental clash with Bayern Munich:
“If we can maintain this form until the match against Bayern Munich? We must maintain it but also improve it. We will be ready and prepared, and it will be a major challenge for the growth of this team.”
