The Partenopei are moving forward quickly in their attempt at signing an out-of-contract Sampdoria defender.
With a contract ending in June and doubtful to renew the deal , Vasco Regini could be wearing new colors in the very near future. According to La Gazetta dello Sport, Napoli are highly interested in signing the 25-year old left-back and want to bring him to the club before the closing of the mercato. He is a target that Sarri also approves of as he coached the Italian defender during his time at Empoli. Regini‘s tactical flexibility is one of the main reasons why Napoli want to sign the defender as he can also moonlight as a center-back. He appeared in 16 games for Sampdoria this season across all competitions, including the Europa League.
Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero is said to have met with the player’s agent, Andrea Cattoli and Sporting Director Carlo Osti, earlier today, to discuss the potential transfer. Napoli are willing to pay a small compensation fee for the left-back although Sampdoria would prefer to receive Maggio on loan for the rest of the season, in return.
