Premier League newcomers Bournemouth have signed a sponsorship contract with online casino company Mansion Group. The deal can help them club secure various targets in the current transfer window such as Juan Manuel Iturbe.
Since being promoted to the Premier League, Bournemouth have already surprised many with their resilience and drive to win. Despite being one of the smallest sides in the country, they have already managed to pick up wins against Chelsea and Manchester United. Their triumphs against some of England’s giants sent a clear message to the rest of the league: Bournemouth are there to stay for the foreseeable future. Their most recent signing of Roma’s Juan Manuel Iturbe only confirmed their ambition. The Argentine arrived on loan and will reportedly cost Bournemouth a further 15 million euros at the end of the season.
But how were they able to pluck Iturbe away from one of Italy’s giants? In the summer, the Premier League side announced a sponsorship contract with Mansion Group, a leading provider of online casino sites, like Casino.com. The deal led to an influx in cash, which is something the newly-promoted side quickly made use of. In hopes of staving of relegation, Bournemouth then turned to the transfer window and signed Iturbe among others.
While the former Hellas Verona man had a poor spell with Roma, he is still only 22 year’s old and there is still plenty of time for him to rekindle past form. In fact, the argument could be made that Iturbe’s pace is better suited to the Premier League. In addition, the winger has previously shown that he’s capable of playing in a similar system to Bournemouth’s through his time at Hellas Verona.
Another important factor to consider is that by moving to Bournemouth, Iturbe will be escaping the pressure in the country’s capital and will be afforded a new lease on life. No matter what Iturbe did on the pitch in recent times, he was still being labeled a 25 million euro flop by Italian media outlets. As a result, it was always going to be difficult for him to shake that reputation. The move to England, however, presents a fresh start and an opportunity to prove that he is indeed among Europe’s top young talents.
At the moment, Bournemouth sit in 15th place, just three points ahead of Newcastle who are occupying the last relegation spot. With the club set to enter a crucial stage in their season that will see them take on Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Arsenal, they will need all the help they can get. That said, before Iturbe gets the chance to play he will need to displace Matt Ritchie in the team. The 26-year-old has been in decent form for Bournemouth this season scoring three goals and registering three assists and will be the Argentine’s direct competitor for a spot in the starting eleven. Howe will nonetheless welcome this selection headache as he will now be able to turn to a number of different players depending on the situation.
Moving forward, one would expect Iturbe to make the spot his own as he possesses the talent and has proven to be a match-winner when on form. His main obstacle, however, will be to consistently display the ability that once got him dubbed the “next Lionel Messi.” If he is able to do so, Bournemouth will have a much easier time securing top-flight status for another year.
