After the loss to Juventus, Roma boss Luciano Spalletti stressed the need to improve the team with a few signings.
In his post-match interview with Premium Sport, the former Zenit boss said,:
“We played a good game in terms of how organized we were. We conceded little but we also created little. We have to do more against this type of opposition because it becomes hard to win after. We have to be better with a small squad. Our morale doesn’t help us and our legs aren’t responding. We have to do more of everything.”
The psychological aspect matters a lot?
“The psychological aspect becomes fundamental in this scenario. Enthusiasm makes the difference. We have the support of the fans but in times like these even that decreases. We have to do more. The difference between us and them was evident. We have to give more in our duels. Some things were done properly but not too many things. We have to increase our rhythm, courage and self-belief.”
After looking at the standings, do you think about the Champions League?
“I think only about the table. I want to recover the team’s morale and the mental condition to win games. Talking about other things is useless. I started a job that will last five months and results won’t change that.”
Did a Chinese club contact you before signing for Roma?
“Something was there and I had to respond to other messages.”
Do Roma need another winger and central defender?
“Yes, we need another central defender and two players in the final third who can beat their man and create something. Perotti? He has quality but he’s not the only one. There are others and we have to make our director work hard.”
