Juventus handled Roberto Mancini’s Inter 3-0 on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final bout. The Italian manager spoke about the result.
Roberto Mancini surely did not expect Juventus to be an easy foe, but he also didn’t see a 3-0 loss against the surging Serie A side.
Mancini told RAI Sport after the crushing defeat:
“The penalty changed the match, and then they scored from the counter attack. Juventus did deserve the victory, but the 3-0 result was excessive. We played the match we had prepared for this week, but we need to be more incisive around goal.”
The nerazzurri coach talked about the recent run of performances, stating:
“We are going through the most delicate moment of the season and we must bounce back. Unfortunately, this result is hard but for the return leg, I will come up with something.”
The club officially sold midfielder Fredy Guarin earlier on Wednesday, collecting an estimated 13 million euros from Shanghai Shenhua. Mancini did speak briefly on the potential haul of Sampdoria forward Eder, via tuttomercatoweb:
“I do not know what the situation is. Eder can help us out and be very useful.
Lastly, Mancini did credit the performances of current Serie A leader’s Napoli, as well as the on-going surge of the bianconeri:
“Napoli and Juventus each deserve the position they occupy. For us, we need points. Then, we will see.”
