In the last few days, Palermo have pushed hard for the signing of Cesena’s Stefano Sensi and appear to be close to signing the player.
According to Sky Sport, the rosanero have pipped Italy’s biggest clubs to Sensi and are the closest to signing him at the moment. The midfielder has been likened to Marco Verratti as they are very similar midfielders. Both players have an impressive range of vision and are able to take control of games.
While he and Verratti share similar characterstics, they may take different career paths. Over the last few weeks it was reported that Milan, Inter and Juventus among others were after the player. That said, unlike Verratti, there is the possibility that he joins a mid-table club like Palermo before moving to a big team.
Palermo have struggled thus far and now find themselves in 16th place in the league. The acquisition of Sensi would add some much needed creativity in the middle of the park and would compliment Franco Vazquez beautifully.
The midfielder has made 18 appearances for the Serie B side this season scoring three goals and registering a further two assists.
