Inter failed yet again at obtaining their first win of the new season after tying Palermo 1-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza. Here is how we rated each of the Nerazzurri players’ performance.
Starting XI
Samir Handanovic (6): Very alert throughout the entire game. Not at fault for conceding Rispoli’s goal.
Danilo D’Ambrosio (5.5): Solid match when it came to marking, not so much going forward. Woke up a bit more towards the end of the match.
Joao Miranda (6.5): Another fantastic performance from the Brazilian. Calm, smart, and collected when in posession, made all the right decisions with the ball at his feet.
Jeison Murillo (5.5): Positive outing from the Colombian, but he will need to work on bettering his concentration. His lack of focus can cause Inter to pay big time down the line.
Davide Santon (5): Failed to integrate himself into the offensive game and was unfortunately responsible for the deflection that saw Rispoli’s shot go in. A lot of work to be done if he hopes to keep his spot.
Banega (6): His technical skills and tactical awareness are not to be discussed, and neither is his will to lead his team forward. The excessive amounts of pressure on him caused him to make some mistakes in possession.
Geoffrey Kondogbia (6): His physical condition is already at a high level and he continues to convince as he did last week against Chievo. Although he didn’t play in his preferred midfield role, he was seen contributing on both ends of the pitch.
Gary Medel (5.5): Was a workhorse as always, but due to his playing characteristics, he wasn’t able to contribute as much as De Boer would have liked. His heart and determination will always gift Medel a spot in the lineup.
Eder (5): Significantly better in the second half where he was able to cut into his strong foot. Was able to generate dangerous chances but failed at finding a goal.
Ivan Perisic (5): Not the performance one would hope for after seeing him against Chievo. His athleticism was a positive as always but he was not capable of causing any danger.
Mauro Icardi (6.5): Missed a great goal-scoring opportunity which was very unlike him, but forgivable nonetheless. In the box he was as lethal as he’ll ever be. Perhaps Gabigol’s arrival will bring the best out of him.
Substitutes
Senna Miangue (6): Came on for Santon in the 68th minute. Shook off his fear and was able to put to practice everything that De Boer asked of him.
Antonio Candreva (6.5): An instant spark off the bench for Inter. Came on in the 68th minute and made Inter look much more assertive in attack.
