Di Francesco: “My Players Are Still Surprising Me.”

Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco spoke to the media following his side’s win over Palermo and highlighted his satisfaction.

In his post-match interview with Sky, the Italian tactician said:

“I have to say that we played 35 extraordinary minutes at the beginning, pinning Palermo in their own half. In the second half, we looked a bit fatigued but today we had two debutants on the pitch. We’re a bit light in the middle of the park but I thought everyone did what they had to do. We’d like to continue on this path, we’ll go head-to-head with everyone and we’ll try the same in the return leg of the Europa. I’m happy because Sensi has played as a mezz’ala (outside central midfielder) for a little time and he’s playing the role well. My players keep surprising me with their desire to be at the disposal of the team and their overall mentality.

When asked about the season’s objectives, Di Francesco said:

“Dreaming is nice but I keep my feet on the ground. I believe a lot in hard work and in remaining humble. We’ve gotten to this point due to sacrifice and work. We must continue like this.”
