The defending Serie A champions get their title defense underway with Fiorentina at home.
Juve are fresh off from a preseason in which they looked strong both in Asia and Europe. Despite the sales of Pogba, Morata and Pereyra, ten of their eleven projected starters will be from last season’s team. Marchisio is still out injured and is expected to return in October.
Miralem Pjanic suffered a slip knock to his side in the Villar Perosa friendly this past week but is expected to play some role in Saturday’s game. For Higuain, Juventus will keep him in preseason training mode with daily exercises and a strict diet. He’s expected to debut in September after the international break, which he will stay in Turin for.
For Fiorentina, the only “new player” is the return of Giuseppe Rossi, who’s back from a successful loan spell at Espanyol. Last season he went uninjured but was surplus to requirements for Paulo Sousa’s side. Other than that, Borja Valero could be on the outside looking in for the game.
Both of these sides are predominately unchanged from last year, lineup wise.
