The Magpies are nearing the capture of Archaf Lazaar from Palermo.
According to Sky Sport, the Palermo defender will undergo his medical visit at Newcastle within the next few hours before defining his transfer to the second-tier English club.
The 24-year-old will sign a multi-year deal with Newcastle in hope to helping the club reach promotion.
Newcastle had been hot on the player’s trail for the last few weeks and with Palermo in a fire sale, the English took advantage.
