Napoli will have to dig deeper into their wallet if they are to loosen Torino’s grip on the want-away Serbian center-back.
Despite the center-back’s desire to push for a move away from the club, Torino are looking after their own interests and are not settling on just any offer being presented to them. It was reported over the weekend by La Gazzetta dello Sport that Napoli have made Nikola Maksimovic their main priority before the transfer window shuts in a week’s time. With Koulibaly set to be absent in January due to the African Cup of Nations and Lorenzo Tonelli out with a knee injury, the Partenopei want to avoid a shortage in central defense.
A good business relationship between Aurelio De Laurentiis and Urbano Cairo could help improve Napoli’s chances at signing Maksimovic but it is the offer itself that will do the talking. As per Sky Sport however, the offer of €25 million presented by Napoli was not sufficient enough to convince the Granata and President Urbano Cairo has requested €35 million for the Serbian. Napoli will now have to draw up an improve offer as Torino are said to be unwilling to lower the price tag.
