Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is livid with Enzo Maresca’s declarations after Iachini’s sacking and hasn’t hesitated expressing his dissatisfaction.
After Iachini was sacked following a relatively poor start to the season, many Palermo players took to social media to support their former manager including Franco Vazquez and Enzo Maresca. In an interview the Palermo president didn’t hold anything back. He said,:
“They have truly busted my b****. I’m down to shreds, I don’t have the motivation anymore. If I find someone to buy the team, I’m selling it right away. My wife and my daughter can’t handle it anymore, they want me to leave the footballing world.”
On his players’ disapproval of his sacking:
“I’m the president and they have to respect me. In Italy, the footballers are considered employees of a stupid association. They make one million, two million or three million euros a year. They should be free from all constraints like in the United States. Instead they are treated as employees of the opera. Iachini, the poor guy, will get paid to stay home. They’re should be a different type of contract in place that has a penalty in it.”
