Two more friendlies in the books, two more to go. The December 12, 2015 Euro group draw is just around the corner. Who is a lock and who remains a contender for a spot on Antonio Conte’s 23 man Azzurri roster?
Italy loses to Belgium 3-1 in Brussels and ties Romania 2-2 in Bologna.
A tie and a loss does little to inspire a team, and safe to say nobody who is not considered a lock for a trip to France next June did anything special to get Conte’s attention.
Conte has remained loyal to the players he trusts, leaving little room for outsiders to crack the lineup.
The table below lists all the players who played during the qualifiers with some stats, and in addition others were added whom I believe Conte is still keeping an eye on.
Assumption: Conte will callup 3 goalkeepers, 7 defenders, 8 midfielders, 5 forwards
Those fighting for a spot are ranked in order of probability they will get the call.
Two friendlies have been played versus Belgium and Romania, two remain versus Germany and Spain.
