Emanuele Giaccherini has returned to the Italy fold for the first time in over a year, and held nothing back in the press room in regards to his joy of being back at Coverciano.
He joined defender Lorenzo De Silvestri in the conference, and spoke about his return.
“I am proud to be back here, every time it feels like the first time. I was hoping the manager would think of me at some point, but it always depends solely on my performances. To wear this shirt is simply fantastic.” The former Juventus and Sunderland midfielder decided to move back to Italy to take his chances with the national team: “It’s true, that was an important part of my decision, because the Azzurri mean a lot to me. It was hard to leave Juventus and my country, but playing in England has helped me grow as a man and as a footballer.
“The squad is tightly knit and we all are at available to the manager Conte. There is a great atmosphere among us.”
