#Napoli win 1-0 against Udinese with a clinical finish from Gonzalo Higuain

The Neapolitans were in for a real test at the Stadio San Paolo as a tough-to-breakdown Udinese was up next for the Azzurri:

Today’s game was anything but easy for the Partenopei, as they hosted Udinese.  The Friulani started the game off by giving the Neapolitans very little space to work with upfront, where they are at their strongest.  However, that did not stop Napoli from trying to break the deadlock.  Gonzalo Higuain had a multitude of opportunities to net his 200th club goal in the first half, however Udinese goalkeeper Karnezis was up to the task.  One noteworthy chance for Napoli came from Jose Callejon as the Spaniard was played through on goal by a wonderful pass from Napoli hit-man Higuain.  The first half ended in a frustrating nil-nil draw between the two sides.

As the second half started, the hunger for that goal set in for Napoli, creating and squandering many chances early on in the half. Higuain finally found enough space to score that all-important first goal of the night in the 53′.  The Argentine forward would finally get his 200th club goal, a remarkable feat.  Napoli then had a plethora of chances to get a second in the game however the lone goal was enough to lift Napoli over Udinese and into the International break.

Later on in the evening, Italian NT manager Antonio Conte announced his squad for the upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Romania.  Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne and midfielder Jorginho were not included in the squad and this sparked an outrage throughout Italy as those two could really make a difference on a rather weak Italy team.  Hopefully in the future both of those gems can get the credit they deserve and will be starting for Italy’s national team.  The one positive we can take from Conte’s selection is that he picked Manolo Gabbiadini, another starlet that definitely deserved Conte’s attention.

Goals:  Higuain, 53′

Player Ratings: Reina, 8; Hysaj, 7; Albiol, 7.5; Koulibaly, 7.5; Ghoulam, 7; Allan, 7; Jorginho, 8; Hamsik, 8; Callejon,7; Higuain, 9; Insigne, 6

Man of the Match: Gonzalo Higuain: This guy just can’t stop scoring.  Another clinical finish today adds to his tally for the season and grants him his 200th club goal in his career.  Who will stop this man from scoring? Will he be this seasons Capocannoniere? We shall see…
