Saturday evening saw Roberto Mancini and his Inter side return to winning ways despite a less than they commanding performance in the 3-1 win over Sampdoria at the San Siro.
Here is how we rated the individual performances of Inter’s players following their victory over Sampdoria.
Handanovic (6.5): The Slovenian keeper did make a few key saves, although he wasn’t particularly in danger. He did concede a consolation goal late to Fabio Quagliarella, but again, Sampdoria did not threaten Handanovic much at all.
D’Ambrosio-MOTM (8.5): The Italian fullback opened the scoring when he calmly deposited Murillo’s flick on toward’s the back post, meeting it with a first-time volley. Not only did he get his long awaited goal, but D’Ambrosio worked and worked throughout the 90 minutes. Certainly, it was a solid night for the ex-Torino man.
Miranda (7.5): The Brazilian headed home the second of three Inter goals on the night, after goal-line technology reconfirmed it beat Sampdoria keeper Emiliano Viviano. For Miranda, it was a nice performance and one he hopes can get him back to the form he displayed earlier in the campaign.
Murillo (7.0): Murillo, of course, assisted D’Ambrosio’s goal to get things rolling for the nerazzuri. It wasn’t an eye-popping performance and the opponent did not pose much of a threat, but the Colombian did his job well.
Nagatomo (6.0): It was a quiet day for the Japanese fullback. Most of the Inter attacks were built through the middle of the pitch and Nagatomo did not have to work very hard, but he did pick up his mandatory yellow card which he was docked for.
Perisic (7.0): The ex-Wolfsburg winger did his share to try and become a factor. Sampdoria would have been the ideal opponent to score a goal, but for the most part, he was active. Unluckily, he was ruled offsides when he was off to the races and had nothing but open space in front of him.
Brozovic (7.0): The Croatian has been playing well for Mancini as of late. In the win over Montella’s side, he worked hard to supply chances from the midfield for his strikers. Once Andrea Ranocchia slipped up, Brozovic took advantage, allowing him to pick out Icardi who slotted home his 11th goal of the season.
Felipe Melo (7.5): Although he has reckless tendencies, Melo disguised them and turned in a solid showing in front of the home crowd, providing the assist on Miranda’s goal. The physicality of the Brazilian caused fits for the Sampdoria midfield all evening and it played into the outcome.
Biabiany (7.0): At times, Biabiany looked dangerous, exploiting Dodo on the right-flank with his exceptional speed. Certainly, he played to his strengths and trekked back to cover his steps.
Icardi (8.5): It was a close call for Man of the Match honors here. The Argentine caused all sorts of problems for his former club and could have maybe had another goal on top of the one he scored. While this season has seen him slip a bit from his capocannoniere form of 2014-15, Icardi remains the key cog in the Inter attack.
Eder (5.0): Coming into the match, the ex-Sampdoria man had scored just one goal in his last 7 league appearances. The matchup against his former club was the ideal fixture to grab his first goal in black and blue, but it did not come. He was also replaced by Adem Ljajic about 20 minutes into the second half, indicating that he still has to impress Mancini.
Substitutes
Ljajic (6.0): The Serbian winger has struggled this season while on loan from Roma. On Saturday, those struggles continued in the half hour or so of time he spent on the pitch. Virtually non-existent.
Gnoukouri (n/a): Not on the pitch long enough to make a proper assessment.
Jovetic (n/a): Not on the pitch long enough to make a proper assessment.
