Despite playing very well throughout most of the game, the boys in blue only managed a 1-1 draw against sixth place Milan.
Here’s how we rated the Napoli players and their individual performances following the 1-1 draw.
REINA (6)– Reina did let in a goal of course but it was nearly impossible to get to it. Overall OK performance, had a couple shaky moments but made a couple decent saves.
ALBIOL (6.5)– Albiol put in an average performance today, not making any huge mistakes, defensively solid and denied Milan’s aerial attack several times.
KOULIBALY (6)– Despite assisting Bonaventura for Milan’s goal, Koulibaly put in a usual decent performance. Shut down Niang and Bacca with his pace and power and overall played decently.
HYSAJ (6.5)– The Albanian fullback put in an alright performance. Managed to shut Bonaventura for most of the game and put in some work offensively. His workrate was phenomenal and nearly assisted Mertens for the go-ahead goal.
GHOULAM (6)– Ghoulam was a bit out of form for the first hour or so letting Honda cross and thus causing Milan’s goal, and was a bit defensively shaky but made up for it the last 30 minutes putting in a good performance.
ALLAN (7)– Personally, he was my MOTM for Napoli. His never-ending workrate and aggressiveness made it look like he was one of the Napoli players trying out there. Made some key tackles and started some decent attacking plays.
JORGINHO (5)– Usually he would put in a good performance but today he did nothing of notice. Gave away some easy passes, muscled off the ball easily and from set pieces was a bit useless.
HAMSIK (5.5)– The Slovakian didn’t play as great as he could have. Offensively was usually involved in the play but never made any key passes or shots. Need a better performance from the captain if Napoli wants to keep up with Juve.
INSIGNE (6)– Insigne did score a very nice goal, despite there being a deflection, and was a threat in the first half but seemed to die down a bit in the second half. Could have had a better performance but Abate managed to defend his flank very well.
HIGUAIN (5.5)– Higuain had some decent chances today and made hash of them. Had the opportunity to score a couple times but Alex and Zapata managed to stop him. Made a couple key passes today but his low work rate let him down today. Didn’t seem like he was in the mood to play and stood around and waited for the ball a lot of the time.
CALLEJON (5.5)– The Spaniard did his usual running up and down the pitch for however long he’s on the pitch but didn’t make any exceptional plays today. Had some shots deflected or blocked and didn’t put as much of an effort as he could have.
SUBSTITUTES
MERTENS (6.5)– As soon as Callejon came off and the Belgian came on the right wing, he instantly made a difference. He hit the post and caused Antonelli some trouble on the right flank but was also quieted down when moved to the left flank.
GABBIADINI (5.5)– Made some runs in the last 10 to 15 minutes but didn’t make a huge impact on the game.
EL KADDOURI (N/A)– Despite coming on late he could have sealed the winner but unluckily, his shot went straight into Donnarumma’s hands. Other than that, he didn’t have much time to do anything else.
