Paul Pogba looks ahead to Tuesday’s first-leg match against Bayern in Champions League and considers it an advantage for Juventus that the Germans are the favorites.
Speaking to UEFA’s official website, Pogba gave his thoughts on one of the rounds most highly-anticipated matchups and on the last time Juventus & Bayern met each other:
I was on the bench in the first-leg. It was the year that they won the Champions League, they were a really, really good team. They had a very well-organized team with lethal players up front, that is what I remember. This year, they also have a great team with players that have great individual skills who can make a difference at any moment. But we are Juventus, we are a great club. We must remember that Bayern are a great club as well, but we will give it our all.
I know that today we are not considered favorites for this match but this can be an advantage for us. People think that we will lose but we will see what happens. As I said, we are not the favorites so we have nothing to lose. We hope to qualify and we will give everything.
We could have closed out the group in first place but the most important thing was to qualify for the next round. Playing against PSG, Barcelona, Bayern, whomever. It is the Champions League and there are no small teams after the Group Stage. We will give it our all and try to qualify for the Quarter-Finals.
On facing his former Juventus teammate, Arturo Vidal:
We know about Arturo’s quality. He is dynamic, runs a lot and can score at any moment. He also has the technical skills and plays a great final ball. He is a complete player, everyone knows it. We will work hard in training to stop him and the other Bayern players. We know him well so we will give him a few kicks but nothing too hard! We hope to win against my friend Arturo.
