Juventus-Bologna: Players Ratings

On Friday, Juventus travelled to Bologna to take on Roberto Donadoni’s resurgent side and played out to a 0-0 stalemate at the Dall’ Ara’.

Here’s how we rated the bianconeri’s performance.

Player Ratings:

Gianluigi Buffon (6.0): As usual the legendary goalkeeper didn’t have much to do throughout as Juventus’ defence marshalled Bologna’s threat nicely. Made a nice save on Mattia Destro’s swerving effort from 30 yards out.

DEFENDERS –

Stephan Lichtsteiner (6.5): The Swiss express was his usual dependable self on the right hand side of defence and got forward nicely. In addition, his former teammate Giaccherini wasn’t able to get the better of him on the wing.

Leonardo Bonucci (6.5): The Italy international was rock solid at the back for the bianconeri and did well to distribute possession to his midfielders.

Andrea Barzagli (7.0): The veteran Italian defender was fantastic at the back for Juventus and highlighted that he’s only going to get better with age.

Patrice Evra (6.0): Another good performance at the back for Uncle Pat as he locked down the left of defence. However, he could have done more in possession in the final third.

MIDFIELDERS:

Stefano Sturaro (5.5): Not the best display for the former Genoa man as he was unable to influence the game in any way. Moreover, his technical shortcomings cost him on a few key occasions.

Claudio Marchisio (6.5): Il Principino dictated proceedings in the middle of the park from the first minute and was solid defensively. A bit reckless to pick up a booking late in the first half.

Paul Pogba (5.5): Meh. Not what you would expect from the Frenchman in a tricky away fixture. The former Manchester United man simply had to do more for his team.

Roberto Pereyra (5.0): The Argentine returned to the lineup following a long injury layoff and his rust showed. Subbed off at half-time for Juan Cuadrado.

FORWARDS:

Simone Zaza (5.5): The striker failed to get into this game and proved just why he’s better off being used as a super sub. Subbed off for Paulo Dybala halfway through the second half.

Alvaro Morata (5.0): The Juventus man looked off the pace in today’s game and his first touch let him down on a few occasions. Started off brightly but fizzled out as the game went on.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Juan Cuadrado (6.0): Injected some pace and unpredictability when he came on at half but ultimately failed to impact the game in any way.

Paulo Dybala (5.5): Came on for Zaza in hopes of giving his side the winner but didn’t do anything of note.
