Maurizio Zamparini confirms he originally wanted to sign Donadoni as manager and that Palermo may not be right place for Alberto Gilardino
In an interview with Emilia-Romagna publication Resto del Carlino, Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini spoke about Palermo’s struggles during the current campaign.
Unfortunately, I have been unlucky with managers. I had Donadoni in my sights in October when I was thinking of replacing Iachini but Bologna beat me to it. I took Ballardini back because he had done well with Palermo but then things went the way they did and he chose to leave on his own terms.
Zamparini also gave his thoughts on the performances of Alberto Gilardino:
Gilardino is a great player but Palermo is not the right place for him. He is world-class inside of the box but this squad rarely gets the ball in that area.
