Juve have been following the Portuguese midfielder but competition for his signature is now fiercer than ever, as Barca enter the fray.
Juventus’s appetite for talent apparently can’t be sated as, after the deals for Dani Alves and Miralem Pjanic, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Sporting Director Giuseppe Marotta is now eyeing up a move for the Valencia midfielder Andrè Gomes. The Spaniards won’t let go of their man easily though, and have slapped a €40 million price tag on him that could deter interest.
It’s not working that way so far though as, according the El Mondo Deportivo, Luis Enrique is also keen on the 22 year-old and Barcelona’s technical secretary, Robert Fernandez, was even in Lisbon to watch Benfica vs Estonia this week. The tactical versatility of Gomes endears him to the Barcelona coach, who sees him as a useful option to have at his disposal across long domestic and European campaigns.
