Massimiliano Allegri and his Juventus side are closing in on a deal for Bayern Munich’s central defender Medhi Benatia, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Moroccan international could find his way back in the Serie A next season after spending two campaigns in the German Bundesliga with Bayern Munich. The Bianconeri already have arguably the best defensive force in Europe with Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli, but depth is a must when having dreams of a deep UEFA Champions League run.
The defending Italian champions are in talks with the German champions, to bring Benatia in on a loan deal with an obligation to buy set at an estimated 18 million euros.
The 29-year old defender was a star with the Giallorossi a few seasons back, but has found it difficult to play consistently in Germany. Last year, Benatia managed just 14 league appearances for Bayern Munich, which is why a return to Italy is desired.
