The Tuscan club has signed teenage starlet Matheus Pereira from Corinthians.
With the help of Juventus, Empoli have pulled off the signing of 18-year old Pereira, who had been a target of many top European clubs in the past.
The move isn’t as surprising as it may seem because Juventus will eventually acquire the player because of a deal in place, and it gives Empoli a short term boost to help refortify the midfield.
In an official statement by the club, they announced the signing.
“Empoli FC announces to have acquired outright from Corinthians the rights to player Matheus Pereira da Silva.”
The attacking midfielder made one appearance with the senior Corinthians side in his debut season with the club.
