The Italy right winger will miss the all important clash against Spain in the Round of 16.
The Lazio man suffered a slight hamstring injury against Sweden and had been undergoing a special training regime since then. However, he has been unable to recover and will miss the knockout game.
His likely replacement is Alessandro Florenzi of Roma, who has not quite been up to the same standard as Candreva.
Andrea Barzagli, told Sky Sports, “we are disappointed for Candreva.”
“We know what he does for us and he played well in the first two matches but we’re a squad of 23 and we have enough replacements that we won’t miss him too much.”
The Azzurri takes on Spain on Monday at 6PM local time.
