Antonio Conte has been keen to give the impression that his attention is firmly on Euro 2016, rather than his new job at Chelsea that is waiting patiently for him around the corner.
This hasn’t however stopped the English press speculating on which names might be near the top of his summer wish list for The Blues.
One such name could well be Stephen Lichsteiner, who, according to The Sun, may be on the verge of joining his former coach in west London. Lichsteiner left a message on his official Instagram thanking Juventus fans for their support over the last five years, a gesture that can well be interpreted as a farewell to the Old Lady. The 32-year-old would likely net EU15 million for Juve, who are unlikely to protest the Swiss’ departure given the likelihood of a deal being done for Dani Alves.
Conte’s raid of his old club doesn’t end there however, as The Sun also report he is interested in Stefano Sturaro. As if to fuel speculation, Conte included Sturaro in his 23 for the Euros right at the last minute. Southampton have already had an offer turned down for the midfielder but Juve’s resilience to hold on to him could be broken by an offer in the region of EU25 million. A move for Sturaro casts a different light on Chlesea’s interest in Radja Niangolan. As IFD reported yesterday, both parties are keen on a move for the Roma number 4 but are unable to agree a price.
