Napoli Turn Their Attention Back to Roberto Soriano

With Hector Herrera likely on his way, and Mirko Valdifiori asking for more playing time, Napoli have turned their attention back on Roberto Soriano of Sampdoria to increase depth in the midfield.

Roberto Soriano was supposed to make his move to Napoli following last summer’s deadline day.  However, the clubs did not submit the necessary documents in time and therefore the deal to bring Soriano to the Stadio San Paolo collapsed.

Apparently earlier today, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia, Napoli have held talks with Sampdoria over a possible revival of the deal that eventually collapsed some 8 months ago.  Reportedly, Mirko Valdifiori could be used as a bargaining chip for Napoli as the player wants more playing time and Sampdoria are already apparently set on selling their Brazilian midfielder Fernando to Dynamo Moscow. Also, Sampdoria do show interest in the 29 year-old regista Mirko Valdifiori thus a swap deal between the clubs seems likely. Therefore, if Mirko Valdifiori is used in a potential deal, Napoli would then pay less cash to Sampdoria for Soriano.

With the potential additions of Roberto Soriano and Hector Herrera, expect Napoli’s midfield to be on a whole different level next season.  Don’t forget, the partenopei already boast the likes of Allan, Marek Hamsik and Jorginho
