Roma searching to fill the void in their midfield created by the departure of Miralem Pjanic.
According to Il Tempo, Roma are working behind the scenes to lure Newcastle attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to the Eternal City. The Dutch international’s compatriot Kevin Strootman has been trying to convince Wijnaldum to join him in Rome but a deal may not be as easy as it seems.
Roma do have a great business relationship with Newcastle, stemming from the sales of Yanga-Mbiwa and Doumbia however the midfielder holds a price tag of €20 million. Roma could also face competition from Napoli, along with other clubs around Europe. Il Tempo reports that Roma could secure the funds for Wijnaldum if Leandro Paredes is to be sold.
The 25-year old Rotterdam born midfielder scored 11 goals and collected 5 assists in 38 appearances in the Premier League this season.
