The Croatian fullback is a step away from joining the Spanish side.
Sassuolo could lose a vital part of their defense sooner rather than later. As Sime Vrsaljko is close to being transferred to the Spanish capital, with Atletico Madrid. The two sides will meet on Thursday to close the deal for the defender, which may cost around €20 million, according to SKY.
The Neroverdi’s intentions are to sell him abroad rather than having to face him back in Serie A. Sassuolo qualified for the UEFA Europa League by finishing 6th in Serie A this past season.
Vrsaljko arrived in Italy during the summer of 2013 from Dinamo Zagreb with Genoa. He then was signed by Sassuolo a year later and has gone on to become one of the most consistent and well performing fullbacks in the Italian league.
He has since gone on to earn 18 caps for the senior Croatian national team and partake in two major tournaments.
