Frustrations Mount Around Roma As Pjanic Inches Closer To Juventus Move

Roma on the verge of selling one of the key pieces to their midfield to Juventus and it is not sitting well with the Giallorossi supporters.

The nightmare for Romanisti is coming full circle. In what could be seen as one of the most gut-wrenching transfers for the Giallorossi faithful, Bosnian playmaker and free-kick specialist Miralem Pjanic is inching closer to wearing the black and white strikes of Scudetto holders, Juventus, next season. As was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, The Bianconeri have come to an agreement with the midfielder on a 5-year contract. Roma are set to receive 30.4 million in return while Pjanic is expected to collect 7.6 million as per the sell-on clause inserted into his current contract. The 20% owed to the Bosnian will be integrated into his yearly salary at Juventus and overall, the transfer fee reaches a total of 38 million, a hefty amount Roma will likely reinvest into the summer mercato.

Some view it as weakening a domestic rival while others consider it adding a crucial piece to take a step closer to lifting the Champions League, either way, it has left a bitter taste in the mouths of Roma fans. It has also taken a toll on Roma President James Pallotta and he has begun to showcase his frustration with the constant questioning from journalists over the details of the potential move.

In a recent altercation with a journalist who asked Pallotta if the move was a done deal, he responded after snatching the journalist’s phone:

You obviously did not listen to me yesterday did you? Get out of my way. Stop it now, I asked you nicely yesterday too. I know but you wont stop, you can’t let me breathe. I am sorry to get so upset but you have to give me a break, just like 5 minutes every place that I go.

The media may soon become the least of his worries as fans have already begun to display their wrath all over social media. As per TuttoMercatoWeb, Pallotta is being accused of focusing more on capital gains than on filling up the trophy cabinet at Roma. He is also accused of being consider the ‘right arm’ of Juventus President Andrea Agnelli. However, the anger is not only targeted to wards him. Pjanic is no longer seen under a positive light as the player is now accused of becoming a traitor and mercenary for joining the enemy.

The transfer itself has yet to be finalized but Roma fans believe doomsday is just around the corner. When the transfer window officially opens and training camps for the new Serie A season get underway not long after, it is becoming more and more likely that Miralem Pjanic will be jumping ship and calling Turin home for the next 5 seasons.
