Scudetto. Check. Andre Gomes? It’s a work in progress.
3 Serie A games and a Coppa Italia finale are all that separates Juventus from another successful campaign but they aren’t stopping there.
On the mercato front there’s movement for the midfield with Marchisio being out for a long period of time. Valencia’s star midfielder Andre Gomes is the tier 1 target for the Bianconeri and according to Sky Sports, they are about ready to make an official bid.
In a figure similar to that of Paulo Dybala, Juventus are ready to offer €30 million plus bonuses for the 22 year-old midfielder from Portugal. The bonus package may well be an upwards of an additional €20 million, bringing the total deal to an astonishing €50 million if all goes to plan.
This is because Valencia very highly rates the young Portugal international and won’t let him go easily. However, there is a problem and that is in the player’s agent. Jorge Mendes isn’t convinced about bringing players to Italy. He’d rather make deals with other giants in some cases.
After Juventus present an offer to Mendes, who is on his way to Milan, then he will meet with the president of Valencia and feel things out.
Juventus are looking for a big marquee signing at the beginning of the window to kick-start next season’s campaign which is already being touted as “Champions League trophy or bust”.
So far this season, Gomes has played in 38 total matches and has scored 3 goals for Valencia in all competitions.
