Napoli thrashed Bologna at the Stadio San Paolo on Tuesday night by a scoreline of 6-0. Here’s how we rated each of Napoli’s individual performers from the match against Bologna;
Starting XI:
Pepe Reina (6): The Spanish shot-stopper had absolutely nothing important to do today as Bologna didn’t even record a shot on target. However, as always, he led the defensive line and marshaled them in a way that did not allow Bologna to even get a sniff at goal.
Elseid Hysaj (7): The talented young Albanian right back did everything on the right side of the field in attack and defense. He provided cover when needed and provided an outlet to pass to when Napoli pushed forward. A class performance overall.
Raul Albiol (6.5): Had a solid game completing almost every pass and intercepting almost every ball. Another class performance from the Koulibaly-Albiol duo.
Kalidou Koulibaly (7): Class performance from Kalidou. Made daring runs with the ball up the pitch and completely shut down Acquafresca and Zuniga.
Faouzi Ghoulam (6.5): The Algerian had a great game today. His match was similar to Hysaj’s, kept it solid at the back and bombed forward at every opportunity.
Allan (7): Allan intercepted so many passes through the middle of the pitch that could have ended up being dangerous. Also, the Brazilian provided a lot in attack and played like his usual box-to-box self today.
Jorginho (7): Another outing of pure class for Jorginho, he shows time and time again why he deserves to be on a plane to France this summer. Completed pretty much every pass and expressed peace and tranquillity throughout the game.
Marek Hamsik (7): Marek played very similarly to the way he did against Hellas Verona. He spread the ball wide with lots of accuracy numerous times and played an overall tremendous match.
Jose Callejon (7.5): Jose’s consistency on the pitch would get him in the starting XI of many teams in Europe. His determination to get back and defend and also to create havoc up front is second to none. A one of a kind player.
Manolo Gabbiadini (7.5): Much like Callejon, Gabbiadini created a lot of havoc up top and was a nightmare for Bologna’s Marios Oikonomou and Rossettini. To top it all off, he scored his first brace of the season in the Serie A.
Dries Mertens (9 MOTM): Dries was ON FIRE today. Nothing could stop the Belgian magician as he carved his way to his first hattrick in a Napoli jersey today. Scored an absolute screamer for his 3rd goal late in the match.
Substitutes:
Lorenzo Insigne (6): Lorenzo hasn’t looked his usual self lately, however today he tried his best to make chances for himself. A decent showing for Lorenzo.
David Lopez (6.5): Didn’t have too much time on the field however was on the money with passes and ultimately bagged himself a goal in the dying minutes.
