When you think of Martin Caceres, you think of an excellent backup to one of the best defensive trios of all time.
However, in that same breath, you can’t help but immediately think of the poor decisions he’s made off the field and a few long term injuries he’s suffered while at Juventus. In the end, it’s that combination that has allowed Juventus to leave his contract expire and thus be signed on a free transfer by another club.
For the past few weeks Caceres’ agent, Daniel Foncesca, has met with the likes of Roma and Napoli who are interested in acquiring the decorated Uruguayan defender. Now there are two new names in the race as Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly demonstrated concrete interest.
At the end of the day it’s Martin who will make the decision on his future, big clubs want him, for at the moment he’s spoiled for choice.
The 5 time Scudetto winning centerback played in only 9 games this season, due in large part to his club suspension for a suspected DUI, and an Achilles’ Tendon rupture in the early months of 2016.
