The ex-Yugoslavia captain believes Italy lack the type of great players past versions of the Azzurri had at their disposal.
In a recent interview with Tele Radio Stereo 92.7, former Serbian and Red Star Belgrade legend Dragan Stojkovic discussed his thoughts on the upcoming European Championship and gave his views on Antonio Conte’s Italy:
Italy are missing great champions like Totti, like Del Piero, but it seems to me that Italy are a terrific group and Antonio Conte is a great motivator. Therefore, the team can do very well but the favorite in my eyes, is Germany.
Stojkovic also spoke about the growth of the Chinese Super League as he is the current manager of Guangzhou R&F:
The Chinese Super League has become very important. Many great champions have signed on for the campaign. Chinese fans can rest easy because they have great projects ahead. They want to succeed outside of China, they want to invest and they are talking in significant figures. Television, TV rights, players. They are creating a great local league and want to conquer other nations.
