Everton chasing Roma’s Strootman: The latest

Kevin Strootman’s journey at Roma started off brightly, but after some injuries, it seems he’s surplus to requirements.

According to reports from England’s Liverpool Echo, Everton has become the front runner to sign Kevin Strootman this offseason. After sacking coach Roberto Martinez, it seems that things will be shaken up around Goodison Park this summer.
Ronald Koeman, the new boss for Everton is also a Dutchman and could be another factor in bringing Strootman to the Toffees. However, the Dutch midfielder is not the only one on the radar for the Liverpool club as Axel Witsel is also a target.
Everton may have nearly 100 million sterling to spend in order to get back on track, and Strootman would be a more cost effective addition to the midfield in comparison to some targets the Premier League giants are coveting.
The 26 year old midfielder signed with Roma from PSV in 2013 for approximately €17.5 million. But his ACL problems have significantly hindered him the past two seasons. In fact, in the 2015/16 campaign he made only 5 appearances and scored no goals.
