Sassuolo are making sure they don’t go long without a replacement for Sime Vrsaljko
With the Croatian right back set to be signed by Atletico Madrid, the Europa League side Sassuolo are aiming for Italy and Torino’s Davide Zappacosta to replace him.
According to Sky Sport, there hasn’t been an official offer made yet, but the Neroverdi are highly interested in Zappacosta. The former Atalanta man performed well enough to make it into Conte’s provisional 30 man pre-Euro 2016 team. And went as far as a member of the 3 man reserve team before the squad departed for France.
A lot is also depending on Bruno Peres, on whether he stays or goes from Torino.
This move would be made quickly to assure that coach Di Francesco knows exactly what he has heading into the Europa League qualifiers in August.
Vrsaljko arrived in Italy during the summer of 2013 from Dinamo Zagreb with Genoa. He then was signed by Sassuolo a year later and has gone on to become one of the most consistent and well performing fullbacks in the Italian league.
He has since gone on to earn 18 caps for the senior Croatian national team and partake in two major tournaments.
