Giorgio Chiellini returned to action against Empoli only to be taken off again due to injury.
The Italy international has been virtually off the pitch for most of the 2016 calendar year and is yet again expected to be out until almost May.
In a statement from Juventus’ official club site, the Bianconeri confirmed the extent of the injury.
“Giorgio Chiellini, who left the pitch in the 2nd half of the Juventus-Empoli game because of a muscular injury, has undergone medical examinations this morning to understand the extent of the injury. The exams have shown evidence of a first degree tear to the abductor muscle on his right left. He will need about 20 days to fully recover from the injury.”
