3. The Big Five-O!
Italy extended to 50 the number of qualifiers for Euro and World Cup in which they have gone unbeaten. The last loss took place under Roberto Donadoni who had just taken over an azzurri side still “hung over” from the World Cup win a few months prior. Since that 3-1 loss to France (incidentally a World Cup final “rematch”) for Euro 2008 the Azzurri have never looked back. Since that September 2006 loss, Italy has won 37 matches and collected 13 draws.
