Carlos Zuniga, the soon to be ex Napoli full back, gave an interview to Colombian newspaper El Tiempo which has caused quite a stir with directors from the club.
Zuniga, the Colombian international played only 18 games under ex coach Rafa Benitez, and hasn’t even been called up by Sarri for the first 10 games this season.
The Chigorodó native has suffered a slew of muscle injuries the past few seasons since signing his multi-year contract extension worth €4.5 million a season.
“First of all, I’d like to say that I’m fine, thanks to god. I don’t have any injuries and I train regularly. I am not part of the technical project of the club and it’s not been made clear why.
“I’m perfectly fine physically, it’s a very strange situation. I’m not even brought onto the bench. Who’s fault is it? It’s not Sarri’s, he’s arrived only recently.
“It’s a question regarding the club itself. I’ve spoken with the Sporting Director Giuntoli and together we’re waiting on the winter transfer market.
“But in order to be sold I have to play and demonstrate to be good physically, otherwise it would be difficult to sell me. It would be easier for them as well.
“There are teams that want me, but it’s important to be fine, to demonstrate that I don’t have any muscle tears. To the club, I’ve always told them ‘give me a chance,’ but now they won’t ever give me one.”
