Napoli came away 1-0 winners against Chievo Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi.
The game was for the most part within Napoli’s hands, with Higuain hitting the post twice within the first half. You could tell who the better team was by the way Napoli moved the ball with a purpose and fought for every single 50-50 ball. All there was missing was a goal to take the lead.
The second half was very similar to the first, with Napoli dominating most of the ball possession and shots on goal. Napoli finally found a breakthrough in the 59′ when Ghoulam slipped a perfectly weighted cross on the ground for Higuain to finish off a first-time shot with his left foot. A technique which isn’t so easy to master, especially with your weak foot. There could have been many more goals in this match however Napoli will take that goal and run with it, as they have had many troubles throughout the years with beating Chievo at home and away.
Despite the goal, Chievo reacted promptly and started committing numbers forward in search of an equalizing goal. The side from Verona actually looked dongerous for a portion of the match, creating some shots on goal in the last 10 minutes of the match. However, there was no reward for Chievo’s waves of attacks as Napoli walked away victorious for the 4th consecutive time in the Serie A.
Napoli are on fire at the moment, and no one knows when this train of positivity for the Partenopei will come to an end. All we know as of now is that Napoli are making a statement throughout Italy and the world of football. They have become a force to be reckoned with under Maurizio Sarri.
