After his side’s second consecutive stalemate, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri expressed his frustration at the lack of goals.
With their draw against Borussia Moenchengladbach, Juventus moved to seven points in the group ahead of Manchester City and Sevilla who sit on six and three points respectively. Despite his side’s good position in the group, Allegri is extremely frustrated at Juventus’ lack of goals. He told reporters,:
“If we look at clear-cut opportunities, we created little. If we look at chances that could have been more, then it’s a completely different story. Some were wasted due to poor decision-making while others were wasted because we were selfish. We have to improve on our final ball and go from there. We had the same chances at the San Siro and we have to start capitalizing on them. It’s two games that we haven’t score goals. Tonight, I’m really mad because we have to do better in the final thirty meters. We had to score tonight just like we had to score in Milan but we didn’t.”
On Cuadrado and Dybala –
“Juan has played a lot of games and he wasn’t his usual self tonight. I preferred to put him between the lines because I thought he’d be able to make a difference. Dybala, on the other hand, did two or three good things. He’s a youngster with quality but he has to grow. I’m sure he will become a great player but playing in a different role in comparison to last year.”
On his side’s upcoming game –
“We have to win against Atalanta. We have to recover and redeem ourselves. We have three games against Atalanta, Sassuolo and the derby before we think about the return game against Borussia Moenchengladbach.”
Is there a lack of calmness around the team?
“When you don’t score plenty of negative things come to mind but the players have to remain calm because games are won with attention to detail both in the offensive and defensive zones.”
On Morata’s and Mandzukic’s lack of chemistry –
“They haven’t played much together yet. They played really well against Manchester City but Mandzukic still has to get better.”
On the wasted chances from free kicks –
“From the free kicks, we have to get better. Dybala as well as Pogba could get better in this regard moving forward.”
What do you make of the group stages standings right now?
“Given Manchester City’s win it has brought us one point closer to qualification. Last year we were at three points at the same stage. The race for qualifying is still wide open but we have to continue in the same vein in the defensive zone and score more goals.”
Where can the team improve?
“Some players are still growing as the games go. Khedira is letting his presence felt in the midfield while Marchisio has played his second consecutive game. Up front, we must get better in terms of details. The details are what make the difference in football.”
