Lazio find themselves in a make or break position this weekend at home against Milan.
It is remarkable how much can change in the Serie A in the span of a week. Last Sunday Lazio were coming off a 3-0 victory against Torino and were sitting in second place while Milan had to scratch and claw their way to a 2-1 win against a 10-man Sassuolo. Pundits were praising Lazio and including their name in the scudetto race, until the mid-week fixtures came along and provided a dose of reality. Lazio blew an early lead and lost yet another road game while Milan earned a significant victory against Chievo where 16-year old Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed his first shut out as first team keeper. Now Milan sit just two points from Lazio with an opportunity to move back into a Europa League position.
It is very likely that Lazio will continue to use the 4-2-3-1 formation this weekend despite losing against Atalanta on Wednesday. During the training session on Friday Brazilian defender Mauricio returned to action and should get the start alongside Gentiletti in defense. Look for Miroslav Klose to be the lone striker flanked by Antonio Candreva and Felipe Anderson.
Milan are on a three game unbeaten streak and should stick to the 4-3-3 that manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has leaned on during the team’s positive run of form. In form striker Carlos Bacca has provided stability in attack by either scoring or assisting in three consecutive games.
