Alessandro Del Piero is back in the news as he was questioned by Sky Sport from Los Angeles, California on his future as a coach.
More specifically, support is beginning to grow among those who would like to see the former Juventus #10 as the next Italy coach.
“I’m obviously flattered by these rumors. Three years ago, I would have said no. Today, after having experienced [the game] abroad, my mind has expanded and I’m more open to new horizons.
“However the Nazionale has started a process, I’ve had Conte as a coach and I hope that he can stay for a long time on the Italy bench. And after a good European Championship.
“Conte is an excellent trainer. He’s just great. The possibility is there to do well in France in about 8 months.”
Alessandro Del Piero is a multiple Scudetto winner for Juventus as well as a World Cup Champion from the competition in 2006.
The Azzurri qualified to the group stage of the 2016 European Championship in France via their finish at the summit of the qualifying group, which featured the likes of Croatia and Norway among other nations.
