Napoli slid past FC Midtjylland today in Denmark for their 3rd Europa League match of the season.
The game started off with Midtjylland pressing high up the pitch to force Napoli into making mistakes which could have led to goals. The Danish team had a few chances to pounce on a lead in the opening 15 minutes, however Napoli weathered the storm and started to play their style of football that anyone who watches them frequently would have been accustomed to. The first goal, scored in the 19th minute, was from a perfectly placed long pass from Koulibaly which found Callejon inside the penalty area who chipped the ‘keeper with his first touch. A goal worthy of watching over and over again. Then, in the 31st minute, Gabbiadini found himself on the end of a cross from Allan and the young Italian forward finished comfortably adding 2 goals to the scoresheet. The icing on the cake for the first half happened in the 40th minute when Gabbiadini produced a pearl of a goal which found itself into the top left corner. Not too long after that Midtjylland got on the score sheet with a goal off a corner which was not properly cleared away by the Partenopei.
The second half was mostly a barrage of attacks by Midtjylland however the Danish side could not find a breakthrough. The Danish side’s high pressing strategy left much room for Napoli’s attackers to make counter attacking runs, which is how they scored their 4th goal. Through a nice play down the wing, El Kaddouri slipped in a nice ball which fell to the feet of an open Gonzalo Higuain and that is where it finished, 4-1 to the visitors from Naples who extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games in all competitions. An impressive feat indeed.

Man of the match: Kalidou Koulibaly; the french center back had an outstanding match. The frenchman stopped attack after attack that Midtjylland put on the Vesuviani. Napoli have a gem of a defender on their hands.
