Napoli played out to a 2-0 win over a low confidence Palermo side at the Stadio San Paolo:
It was a match that most felt Napoli would win comfortably, and they did just that. From start to finish, Napoli had a plethora of chances. Higuain, Insigne and Callejon combined beautifully all match long, and Higuain capped it all off with a great finish from outside the box. He sizzled the ball into the back of the net, with Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino not having a chance to get to it. The Napoli onslaught continued for the most part of the first half.
The second half did not change a thing, Napoli kept pouring on to find that all important second goal that would essentially seal a fifth win in succession. They got that goal later on in the half from Dries Mertens, who cut into the box onto his right and finished cooly to the bottom right corner of the goal. This gave Napoli much needed breathing room where Palermo started to pile on more and more pressure before hand.
From this game, we can really see just how much Napoli has improved under Sarri. A post Benitez Napoli has given the fans something to dream about, something Napoli fans have not felt ever since El Pibe De Oro left the club in the early 90s. One question many Napoli fans across the world have been asking is if Higuain can do for Napoli what Diego Maradona has done for them. Many have said yes and many have said no. However, it is hard to argue that Higuain cannot when El Pipita has already scored 8 goals this Serie A term. An important improvement to Higuain is that he has been scoring more consistently, something the Argentine has been lacking in past seasons.
