CDS: Tavecchio ready to lock Conte down with new contract

Antonio Conte has spoken against it in the press, but that’s not stopping the rumors from flying.

The current head coach has a contract with the Azzurri until 2016, but the Italian FA’s (FIGC) President wants to keep him past the Euros.

Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera featured an article stating that “Tavecchio has a plan to bring Conte to Russia in 2018”.

‘The desire of a club manager’ was used to describe Conte’s approach to the Azzurri, which has seen him win 8 out of the first 13 games he has presided over.

Conte is for now totally concentrated on the trip to France next summer, and he’s not exactly been coy that he wants to be on the bench of a club afterwards, but still Tavecchio insists that his stay be prolonged to build the Azzurri.

Tavecchio’s main desire would be to avenge the previous two World Cups, with a “Conte Azzurri” then allow him to leave for whichever club he wants.

The eventual names to replace Conte range from Capello and Ancelotti, to Spalletti, Montella and even Donadoni.
