Napoli’s Nathaniel Chalobah has spoken about how much he is enjoying life in Italy since his loan move from Chelsea.
The 20-year-old told The FA: “The people are really passionate about their football, and that passion runs throughout the club.”
This is the holding midfielder’s sixth club on loan away from Stamford Bridge having had spells on home shores at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Reading in the Championship as well as with Burnley in the Premier League last year.
Living in an apartment in the city centre, Chalobah is really trying to engage with the Italian lifestyle.
“I’ve started language lessons and I’m getting it bit-by-bit and slowly but surely.
“Speaking to people helps, the lads try and speak Italian to me and for anything I don’t understand, it’s best for me to ask questions [in Italian] and that’s the best way to learn.
“You don’t get bored, as there’s always things to do and the weather has been nice, it’s just really relaxed. It’s a simple life in Naples, it is a beautiful city and a historic place.”
While things off the pitch seems to be going well for the youngster, he has only managed just five minutes of first team action so far this season, coming in the Europa League win over Legia Warsaw.
“I’ve enjoyed it so far and I’m just hoping to get more game-time but at the minute, the team is doing really well and it’s tough but I’ve got to be patient.
“There’s some quality players in the squad, a lot of talent and that has shown in the games and results that we’ve had in the last couple of weeks.
“We’ve been winning a lot of games and getting good results so the manager has been sticking with the team, but it’s great to be a part of it.”
